The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Speaker
of Kano State House of Assembly, Gambo Sallau, to answer to charges of
abuse of office.
“The Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Gambo Sallau, the clerk and nine others, this (Tuesday) morning responded to the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegation of abuse of office arising from the December 5, 2013 supplementary appropriation request of over N25billion from the executive arm,” the agency stated.
It added that the invitation follow a petition by some prominent indigenes of the state alleged that the supplementary appropriation was to be backdated and used as smokescreen to cover some unauthorised usage of state fund.
“A petition by some prominent indigenes of the state alleged that the supplementary appropriation was to be backdated and used as smokescreen to cover some unauthorised usage of state fund.
"The eleven persons have been moved to Abuja, where they are expected to make statement before a team of investigators at the Commission’s head office,” stated EFCC.
