Yerima has reportedly divorced his 17 year old Egyptian wife Marian just
three years after marrying her. The former Zamfara state governor
and serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who has
received several backlash following his marriage to the child-bride has
left her to marry a younger Egyptian wife. Sources say, Sen.Yerima along
with four men, alleged to be members of the Zamfara State House of
Assembly were in
Egypt a couple of weeks ago for the wedding fathia his new bride, a 15
year old girl.
Sources say
Yerima's reason for divorcing Marian who is now 17 and has a child for
him is to enable him take another wife since according to Islamic
injunctions, he cannot marry more than four wives.
It is alleged that Sen. Yerima has married and divorced a few
women in recent years, but never has stayed married to his first three wives, only
the fourth wive get kicked out when he is tired and wants a change.
If you recall, Sen. Ahmed Yerima opposed the
deletion of the section of the 1999 constitution which put the official
marriage age in Nigeria as 18 year, saying it was anti-Islam.
