Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan refuted allegations of extravagance after a woman alleged he had travelled to Kenya with seven jets during a recent visit.
“(Allegations of) President Jonathan travelling to Kenya with seven jets are not true. I challenge the Kenyan lady to prove her allegation. Stop spreading lies. President Jonathan was in Kenya with only one aircraft,” Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, stated.
Abati said the Kenya woman, whose identity could not be ascertained, who raised the allegation lied and challenge her to provide concrete evidence.
“The Kenyan lady lied. President Jonathan was in Kenya with only one aircraft. I challenge her to provide evidence to the contrary. That Kenyan lady is lying. It amounts to sheer laziness to take one crazy tale and broadcast it without verification,” Abati added.
Providing more clarification on the issue, Reno Omokri Special Assistant to the President on New Media said the President went to Kenya with one aircraft but travelled with businessmen who had their own transport.
“The President went to Kenya with only one plane but he went with (Aliko) Dangote and other businessmen who had their own transport,” said Omokri.
