Successful bidders are expected to enter into partnership with the government on a yet to be disclosed lease to operate, manage and develop facilities at these airports, reports ThisDay.
Each airport billed for privatisation would be provided with the non-aeronautical structures that would attract non travelers to the airport as business centres.
However, the proposed government's move has come under severe criticism from several quarters, primarily on the grounds that government would not let go the airports because of the sensitivity of such facilities in terms of safety and security.
